We Fight, We Rest, We Win
Resistance demands strength, and strength requires care. Together, we’ll outlast oppression.
As January 20th looms large and a fascist, oligarchic regime comes into power, promising “shock and awe,” those of us in the fight must prepare—not just for the long war on our rights and the rights of our loved ones, but also for how we’ll take care of ourselves along the way.
The truth is, no one can sustain resistance without tending to their own well-being.
Self-care is how we make sure we’re strong enough to show up for the fight day after day.
Here’s what we can learn from those who’ve been in the trenches before us—freedom fighters, advocates, and everyday people who’ve faced down authoritarianism and kept their spirits intact.
1. Stick Close to Your People
Let’s be real: This fight isn’t something we can do alone.
Lean into your community—whether that’s your family, friends, or like-minded folks in your area or online.
Spend time together, whether it’s strategizing, sharing a meal, or just venting. Knowing you’re not alone makes the load lighter.
2. Give Yourself Permission to Rest
We all want to give everything we’ve got to the cause, but burnout won’t help anyone.
Take a walk. Watch a movie that makes you laugh. Let yourself breathe.
Remember: Even the fiercest warriors take time to rest and recharge.
3. Focus on What’s in Front of You
Feeling overwhelmed? You’re not alone.
Start small. Write a letter. Call your representatives. Volunteer locally.
Each action—no matter how tiny it feels—builds momentum and chips away at the forces we’re up against.
4. Remember Why You Fight
When things feel heavy, reconnect with your purpose.
Who are you fighting for? What future are you working to create?
Whether it’s for your kids, your partner, your neighbors, or yourself, keeping your “why” in focus can reignite your drive when it starts to dim.
5. Celebrate Every Step Forward
This isn’t about blind optimism—it’s about recognizing progress, no matter how small.
Celebrate the victories, whether it’s a successful protest, a meaningful conversation, or just making it through another day with your resolve intact.
Wins build hope, and hope keeps us going.
Hope Is a Revolutionary Act 🌟
The road ahead might look dark, but history reminds us that people like us—ordinary people—have toppled regimes and reclaimed freedoms before.
This fight is long, yes, but it’s not hopeless.
Here’s the thing: You are not alone. Far from it!
Every act of courage you take—every moment you choose hope over despair—adds strength to this movement.
So, take care of yourself. Stay connected. And never forget: The future isn’t written yet.
We’re in this together. 💖✊
