Call It What It Is: MAGA Is a Fascist Movement
Soft language won’t save us. It’s time to name the cruelty, corruption, and authoritarianism for exactly what it is.
Words matter.
They shape how we understand what’s happening—and what we’re willing to do about it.
When I was doing anti-human trafficking and anti-terrorism work, I worked with an incredible analyst who said something that’s never left me:
“Words matter.”
At the time, we were using language to track patterns of violence, exploitation, and organized harm.
What we called something could mean the difference between someone getting help—or falling through the cracks.
Between prevention—or tragedy.
And here we are again.
🙏 Thanks for reading.
If you believe in this kind of clear, no-BS journalism—naming what needs to be named, and standing up to rising fascism—please consider subscribing or becoming a supporter. Your voice and your presence here matter.
Please subscribe and keep this work going.
A recent Contrarian article helped clarify my thinking even more:
“We must keep our eye on the ball: namely, an extreme, well-organized reactionary machine insulated from accountability by right-wing media, political cowardice, and government intimidation.”
That’s what we’re facing.
Not policy disagreements.
Not debates over governance.
A fascist authoritarian movement, and growing dictatorship, led by MAGA.
Let’s stop softening the language.
Let’s call it what it is:
MAGA is:
Anti-democratic
Anti-woman
Anti-LGBTQIA+
Racist
Misogynistic
Pro-authoritarian
Fascist to the core
Morally bankrupt
Faith-washing for power
Hypocrisy in a flag disguise
And let’s reframe the harm to match reality:
“Illegal deportation” → State-sponsored human trafficking
“Lawless administration” → Fascist authoritarianism
“Unconstitutional Overreach” → Dismantling of democracy
“Censorship of Educators” → Oppression of truth
“Election interference” → An attempted coup
Let me be clear: I’m not talking about every person who has ever voted Republican.
But the Republican Party as we once knew it is dead—and has been for a very long time.
What’s replaced it is MAGA—a movement rooted in authoritarianism, white supremacy, patriarchy, cruelty, and control.
And Let’s Not Forget: MAGA Eats Its Own
They don’t just oppose their political enemies—they turn on anyone who fails to show absolute, blind loyalty.
Just this week, Steven Miller went on Fox News and called a DOJ lawyer a “Democrat” and a “saboteur” simply because he didn’t argue Trump’s case vigorously enough.
That’s not politics.
That’s authoritarianism.
In MAGA’s world, disloyalty is treason—and treason must be punished.
It’s not enough to be on their side. You have to be obedient.
Devoted.
Useful.
And the second you’re not? You’re out—and you’re an enemy.
Disagreement vs. Dehumanization
There’s a difference between political disagreement and political dehumanization.
Between conservatism and fascism.
Between someone who’s been misled—and someone who cheers on the harm.
I still believe people can wake up.
I still believe in the possibility of change.
That’s why I draw the line—and keep the door open.
Boundaries and Lines
I’ve written before about the importance of drawing a line—while leaving the door open for those who truly change their minds and take real action.
👉 Here’s where I stand, and the light I’m leaving on.
But we can’t draw that line if we’re afraid to name what we’re up against.
This Isn’t Politics as Usual
It’s a coordinated attack on our rights, our bodies, and our future.
We Must All Speak Out
If you’ve been afraid to speak out—this is your sign to start.
If you’ve already been raising your voice—keep going.
Louder.
Braver.
Sharper.
We cannot afford soft language in a hard moment.
Final Thoughts
This isn’t about left or right. It’s about right and wrong.
I’m not interested in purity politics or performative rage.
I’m interested in truth.
I’m interested in justice.
And I’m interested in building a future where all of us—not just some of us—get to live free.
So yes, I’m drawing a line in the sand.
Not out of hate—but out of love.
Not to divide—but to defend what’s worth protecting.
And for anyone willing to step back across that line, to choose people over power and truth over lies—the door is open.
But make no mistake: the fight is on.
