Heading to a protest? Learn how to dress for safety, anonymity, and comfort. From face coverings to the best protest shoes, here’s what to wear to stay protected.
This guide was created to help people show up safely and thoughtfully to protests. It's rooted in care, lived experience, and a commitment to practical support — not consumerism or complicity.
That said, I've seen this thread drift into assumptions and arguments that miss the point entirely. I welcome dialogue, but not at the expense of nuance, respect, or my own capacity.
Thanks to those who engaged in good faith. Stay safe out there, and keep showing up. ✊
I often research on Amazon to locate and evaluate the quality of a product I’m looking for. When I find a product that meets my needs I search for the product on FB Marketplace or for a store not owned by Amazon, Walmart, Target etc. EBay is another good place to look for the product I want to get.
I do this with books and then find an online seller who is not Amazon and get a used book there.
Amazon can be a great tool.
Unfortunately there are many companies that are now owned by Amazon. So if you are boycotting Amazon take a look at this list before you buy.
Appreciate your ideas. Giving you a hard time about Amazon links is ridiculous. Buy where you want to buy. I am no longer shopping on Amazon if I can help it, but that does not mean I dont appreciate the time and effort put into creating this list. Thank you!
I was sorting through broadcasts when I came across this. It is worth sharing to remind us how important our voices are in supporting each other.
A college professor was starting a new class. At the start of the class, he pointed to a female student and told her to leave his class. He said he does not want to see her ever again in any of his classes. She said I do not understand. His response to her was, I am not going to ask a second time. Thank You. She looked at the other students who did not respond and then left the class.
The professor then asks the remaining students Why are there laws? What are laws for? Anyone?
First student response. Social Order. Second student response. To protect a person’s personal rights. The third student response. Justice!
The Professor says thank you for the last response.
He asks the remaining students, “Was I unfair to your classmate just now? Before they could respond, the Professor said yes, I was. So, he asked the class why didn’t you prevent this injustice?
What you have just learned you would not have understood in a thousand hours of lectures unless you lived it.
You did not say anything, because you felt it did not affect you, and this attitude speaks against you and against life. You think it doesn’t concern you, so it’s none of your business? Well, I am here to say if you do not help bring about justice, then one day you too may experience injustice and there will be nobody there to stand up for you. Every day an injustice happens in business, sports or anywhere where people are, relying on someone else to take care of it is not good enough. I am here to tell you how powerful your voice is. I want you to learn critical thinking to empower you to stand up for what is right. Even if it means going against what everyone else is doing.
My wife is one of those people who sees injustice and jumps right in to help. I am the shy one who holds back until she encourages me to step-up. I apologize for my behavior. What I see happening in this country today has upset me and I cannot stand by and watch a small group of people tear apart my country and do nothing. Do not ask me for money I have none, but at the age of 83 I still have enough energy that I will use to help those who need help any way I can.
I am only one person, but I am hoping I am one person who can make a difference. So, on April 5, 2025, I will be out there with my wife and others, expressing our sadness at the injustices that are happening in our country. I encourage you to do the same. United we stand, divided we fail. Spread the word.
Thank you so much to those that can go. I cant because I an isolated with no support system in place. If I find reliable support I will join. But for now all I can do is support those who can.
Demonstrators also need to mentally prepare themselves for the eventuality that Trump will signal his domestic violent extremist supporters to attack peaceful protesters and provoke violence. Groups need to develop tactics to peacefully protect themselves to minimize physical injuries without becoming violent themselves, such as civil rights protesters did in the 1960's. Keep the faith. Do not yield.
Trump will eventually declare martial law and call out the military to suppress demonstrations and order his generals to use force. There are no General Milleys or Defense Secretary Espers this time to tell Trump no when he orders them to shoot protesters as he did during BLM demonstrations. Trump fired all the top JAG officers who would determine whether orders are legal. Sadly people may die. Keep the faith. Do not yield. They can't kill us all.
Thank you for a great comment. I agree with much of what you said. I've heard rumors that the Proud Boys and other "brown shirts" may attend these protests, so keeping it peaceful is of the utmost importance.
Yes, thank you for this. Not giving you a hard time, but please don’t support amazon. You’re not helping by protesting and then paying into bezos filthy pockets.

I appreciate your kind words Jill, and your comment. Keep yourself safe out there! And enjoy not shopping on Amazon :)
Stand up for injustice!!!

Remove social media apps from you phone, as well as apps to photo galleries. Or bring a burner phone.

Your support is welcome, needed, and awesome Abbie. Thank you!
Are the product endorsements really necessary?
Thanks for this!!! I’ll be protesting on April 5 and appreciate all the good advice
Thank you for your kind comment and for protesting! I’ll be out there April 5th as well!
Never Amazon
“Avoid all black” to avoid attention as if wearing the suggested balaclava wouldn’t attract tons of attention. 😂
Great point KL. Perhaps I should take the balaclava off the list...

As for staying mentally strong (very important), I published an article on that today: https://pathfinderchronicles.com/p/protest-mental-health-guide
Thanks for the link to your well thought out advice.
This was so helpful!
I'm happy it helped! Thanks for reading.

Amazon links? Really?
Great piece and very useful. I struggle to believe that it applies to the United States of America.
Amazon links? Shame! I started to read this and now definitely will not subscribe.
